About Our Team
Madison Thunder is a women's hockey team located in Madison, Wisconsin. We have been around for more than 15 years and were instrumental in developing women's hockey as we know it in the Madison area. We play in the Women's Central Hockey League, where we have the opportunity to play teams from across Wisconsin and Illinois. Thunder strives to maintain a high standard of sportswomanship, on and off the ice. Our committed team of coaches pushes us to continue growing in our skill and knowledge of the game.
Madison Thunder places an emphasis on team and player development over a "win at all cost" ideology. We work hard in practice to be a strong competitor in the league. Our players have great commitment to the team and are always working to fine tune their skills. The team has chosen to adopt a practice policy as is consistent with our drive to be the best hockey players we can:

The team has chosen to adopt a practice policy as is consistent with our drive to be the best hockey players we can:
It is the policy of Madison Thunder that each player shall attend as many practices as possible. If any player other than the goaltender misses two consecutive practices prior to a game, she may not play in that game unless this is the first time during the current season that the player has missed two consecutive practices prior to a game (i.e., every player gets one “freebie” per season). If a player is required to sit out for a game due to this policy, and there are two games before the next practice, the player may attend one of the games. The game to be attended shall be mutually agreed upon between the captains and the player involved. This policy does not apply to the goaltender; however, if the goaltender knows that she cannot attend practice, she is required to find a substitute goaltender to attend the practice. The practice policy does not apply to the playoff tournament or other tournaments."
